Powerbox Australia managing director Marc Rutty and wife Helen have emerged as the buyers of the Potts Point apartment of art patrons Lizanne and Julian Knights at $8 million in an off-market sale through Richardson & Wrench.

Lizanne and Julian had bought the three bedroom, three bathroom Villard apartment from the late car dealer Ray Lintott and wife Penny for $6.17 million in 2011.

The Lintott's had paid $7.4 million for the apartment in the Ercole Palazetti grand Parisian inspired building Villard in 2008.

Lizanne and Julian outlaid $7.4 million last year for the Gunnis family, renovated Victorian era Italianate villa, Oakburn in nearby Elizabeth Bay.

Julian has more than 30 years' experience in the financial services industry and is the founding partner of private-equity group Ironbridge. He is on the board of the Biennale of Sydney and former chairman of the Sydney Dance Company.

Rutty and wife Helen previously lived in Wahroonga before selling The Briars on Eastern Road late last year for $4.3 million to a Chinese family.

The home was on land subdivided off the Bonnie Brae estate that was owned by Rutty's grandfather, Sir Sydney Snow.
