James Kennedy, the chairman of the retailer Kennedy Luxury Group, has been able to secure the $4.5 million East Melbourne apartment he and his wife, Jaimee Belle Kennedy, have occupied for the past two years.

It was only after he'd lodged two caveats on the title of the plush 150 Clarendon Street apartment claiming there was a January 2018 purchasers' contract.

It had last traded when bought by Richard Gu's AXF Group in 2011 for $4 million.

The home, located at 505/150 Clarendon Street, was tied up in the AXF Group liquidation saga as the property was an asset of Gu’s trust.

As a result, Kirsch Sutherland's Malcolm Howell, who recently lost his job as liquidator of the broker, was appointed receiver to complete the sale to the Kennedy’s.

Kennedy had to undertake action in the Supreme Court against Gu and Howell to finalise the purchase of the Clarendon Street home.

The luxurious two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment offered expansive views over the Fitzroy Gardens and beyond.

Its features included a European kitchen, dignified living and a large terrace.

The Kennedy's had spent some $400,000 on renovations whilst occupying the home since their 2018 wedding.

Featured in Vogue, the wedding took place in Florence and showed off Jaimee’s three-day Italian wedding set and her Ralph &amp; Russo gown.

Jaimee, who has been consistently referred to as one of Australia’s most stylish women, works as creative director for her husband’s jewellery business.

James Kennedy secures Clarendon Street, East Melbourne apartment

The Surfers Paradise home of the entrepreneurial, former Rolls-Royce car dealer David Baird and his wife, Marion is under contract with the sale through Ray White agents Sam Guo and Julia Kuo.

It is the <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-qld-surfers+paradise-122694978" target="_blank">trophy home, Summer House</a>, which is credit as the Gold Coast's biggest residence.

They're looking at downsizing from the six bedroom, six bathroom behemoth on 2318 sqm on Cronin Island.

The mansion has three kitchens, a gymnasium, numerous spas and saunas, a 25 metre, four-lane lap pool and a 10 car basement garage.

Designed by Main Beach architects Mobb Thompson and Payne, the home was built 26 years ago for the president of Daikyo Shoji Yokoyama - the Japanese company behind the QT.

It was bought by video game designer Masafumi Miyamoto for $6,553,136 in 1997 - a Gold Coast record which stood for eight years.

He sold it to the Bairds for $8 million in 2004 despite having $13 million hopes.

The home featured in the film Crocodile Dundee, which cost the creators $35,000 in the 1990s to use the home for 10 days of filming.

It was also rented by Hollywood stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr when they were making Scooby-doo.

They will move to their weekender, a five bedroom contemporary home on the Isle of Capri that they bought for $6.35 million in 2012.

David was the Australian head of US company Textron.

The Gold Coast Bulletin report the price was $11 million when bought by Celine Guan, wife of Junxiong Yang, owner of the Links Golf Course at Hope Island Resort.

It was the third highest sale on the Coast this year behind 159 Hedges Avenue which sold for $13.25 million and the $11 million sale of 107 Albatross Avenue.

The couple paid $825,000 for the freestanding 1900's home and added a heated swimming pool.

Pharmacists Gary and Mary Smoker have relisted their Mosman trophy home, Ardagh.
It had initial $15 million hopes through Brendan Warner of Raine &amp; Horne Mosman, but is now listed through Richard Harding at LJ Hooker who says there had been only five owners in a rich 110 year history, "truly one of the North Shore's finest family estates."

Gold Coast hinterland acreage hits the market

A three level five-bedroom mansion in Point Piper has been confirmed as sold at $6.45 million.
The sale at 2 Wunulla Road had been previously reported by Fairfax Media as "sold for about $8 million." 
The property was marketed as exuding European elegance.
Records show Cobra Equity Investments, a company linked to the diversified group, Cobra Group founded by the Canadian-born, London based Chris Niarchos sold the home at a closed auction. The main shareholder in the company is Michael Hogg, a director in Cobra's subsidiary, the marketing company Appco based in Surry Hills. 
The property last sold in 2006 for $5.1 million. 
The Agency's Michelle Andrewartha and Daniel Baran had the listing.

It marks the sell-out of the luxury Gold Coast development.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom apartment spans across levels nine and 10 of the building.

Set over 464sqm, the residence offered floor-to-ceiling windows, private rooftop pool, integrated barbeque and sheltered dining for entertaining.

Designed by Bureau Proberts, 77 Jefferson offered 360 degree views of the ocean, hinterlands and Surfers Paradise in their full-floor residences.

BluePoint is directed by Marcus Dore, who prior to founding the company with Geordie Whitcombe, held positions with national companies including Walker Corporation, Mirvac and Colliers International.

Whitcombe was previously a development manager for Woolworths Limited, and ran his own development and advisory business.

The group's prior projects include East Palm Beach and Sea Palm Beach.

Bilgola weekender of the late newspaper publisher James Fairfax sold

A parkside Toorak home created by the late architect Wayne Gillespie has been sold after having been listed last month with $7.5 million to $8.2 million hopes.
These price expectations were increased midway through the marketing by Kay &amp; Burton South Yarra agents Emma Bloom and Ross Savas, who were initially seeking a price between $7 million and $7.7 million.
The median house price in Toorak is $4.6 million.
The home was listed by architectural lighting designer Nicci Green and her partner, Icon Construction director Ashley Murdoch, who paid $5 million in 2010.
It had previously been in the Hickey family since its 1981 construction by Gillespie whose career spanned thirty years to 2001 to became one of Melbourne's best known and respected residential architects.
Gillespie's early design stamp still features prominently throughout the property, from the vast size areas to the placement of the windows, glass capped ceilings, functionality and indoor-outdoor living. 
The lower level is staged around a gallery inspired foyer, with the principal north-facing living and dining rooms complete with walls of glass that open to poolside terraces paved in bluestone.

Parkside Toorak trophy home sold

A local builder has spent $2.7 million in a post-auction deal on a rundown 1890s Ascot Vale stable complex.
Goodwood, at<a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-house-vic-ascot+vale-127856114" target="_blank"> 42 Myross Avenue</a>, was once home to late harness-racing trainer and driver William “Bill” Davin for 60 years.
The property was quoted at $2.5 million to $3 million price guidance.
It sold to John Paul Kavanagh, and his wife Erin, who were reportedly the only ones to raise their hands at the auction of the 1336 square metre block on Whiskey Hill.
It comprised an original heritage-listed home and nine stables.
