Tweet of the day: CFMEU on Grocon's wall collapse fine
Jessie RichardsonDecember 7, 2020

A Grocon subsidiary has been fined $250,000 safety failures relating to the collapse of a brick wall in March 2013 which killed Alexander and Bridget Jones and Marie-Faith Woo.

The CFMEU is none too impressed by the fine, nor a tweet from Kat Grollo, wife of Grocon chief executive Daniel Grollo.

The CFMEU suggest Kat Grollo's tweet, posted the morning after Grocon pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to ensure a safe workplace, is in relation to the wall collapse.

In a statement on Friday, CFMEU Secretary John Setka said: "Grocon's guilty plea would bring more comfort to the families of the deceased if it wasn't cheapened by comments made by Mr Grollo's wife, who suggested this week the wall collapse was due to sabotage."
