A Toorak home that looks like it would be more at home in Washington has sold for reportedly around $11.5 million.

The 2000 built palatial residence on the exclusive St Georges Road, one of Melbourne's priciest addresses, was bought by a local family.

It had had a $9 million to $9.9 million price guidance.

Set on 1160 sqm, 53 St Georges Road comprises five bedrooms and five bathrooms over its three levels, each serviced by a private lift.

The ground floor family area opens to the alfresco space which accompanies the tennis court.

An indoor lap pool runs alongside the basement level games room and six car garage.
