Karlie Verkerk, the Masterchef semi-finalist, and her childhood sweetheart Adam Frazer are selling their Art Deco Paddington apartment.

Despite her success on the ninth series of the popular Channel Ten show, Verkerk's future isn't leading to her becoming a chef.

The 26 year old, who describes her cooking as modern asian fusion, wants to be a food critic.

Verkerk has journalism experience, having studied journalism at Southern Cross University, and having edited at The Block magazine, Real Living magazine and Homes + Magazine.

One of her other passions is interior design, which helped in the renovation of the couple's 1950s classic apartment.

Since their $670,000 purchase in 2015, the Gosbell Street apartment has been updated with fresh interiors, from white floorboards to a modernised kitchen.

The apartment with 57 sqm of indoor and outdoor space features its own rooftop terrace.

BresicWhitney Darlinghurst agents Nic Krasnostein and Emily Davidson initially had a guide of $750,000 for its September 8 auction, but that has increased to $775,000.

Last year a similar sized one bedder in the block fetched $780,000.

Verkerk was born in South Australia but moved to Sydney when she was young, living on the northern beaches.

She got her cooking skills from her father Dirk, who introduced her to spicy dishes as a child.

Verkerk and Frazer recently celebrated their 10 year anniversary.

During the filming of the show last year, Verkerk told the Daily Telegraph she was getting one-on-one mentoring from Masterchef judge Matt Preston on how to become a professional food reviewer.

'To have someone of his calibre offer his help is mind-blowing," Karlie said.

She worked closely with Preston on his latest cookbook, Yummy, Easy, Quick, which was released late last year.
