Alceon and development partner Core Property Partners have lodged plans with council for massive overhaul of the Tatts Group site in Albion which includes a new 15-storey residential tower, 6-storey commercial tower and refurbishment of the existing brutalist 10-storey commercial building.

Designed by Cox Architecture and Arkhefield, the proposal also includes a public plaza connecting the three buildings and almost 5,000 square metres of retail space which includes tenancies for a childcare centre and 1,500sqm supermarket.

As part of the application, the existing brutalist tower which has often been heralded as one of the city’s ugliest buildings, will receive a drastic renewal of the facade whilst the iconic side-cores are refurbished and maintained.

The residential tower features 77 dwellings across its 10 habitable floors, with a double height showroom fronting the corner of Sandgate Road and Gore Street, as well as a double-storey bistro tenancy. The building is capped off by a rooftop garden, pool and barbecue terrace offering city and river views.
