An oceanfront residence in Hastings Point, NSW has been sold at a record price for the postcode prior to auction.

The four bedroom, two bathroom house at 2 Peninsula Street was sold for $4.45 million to Australian expats living in Hong Kong who inspected via FaceTime.

It was sold by Dominique Vasers Williams from Queensland Sotheby's International Realty Main Beach

In the 1960s it was a beach shack. The current owners bought the property in the late 1990s and built a home designed by architect Scott Carpenter

The home was an RAIA Architectural Award NSW winner in 2007.

The 382sqm home comes with two-storey foyer and timber-tread staircase connecting two levels.

The second level offers main living areas, kitchen and parents' retreat.

The ground level consists of three bedrooms, family-style bathroom, second living area, laundry and anteroom.

The home also features fireplace, motorised exterior blind system, security system and landscaped grounds.

Nestled on 1,644sqm, it's literally seconds to the beach.
