Cate Blanchett and her Sydney Theatre Company artistic director husband, Andrew Upton, have secured a Hawkesbury River retreat with jacaranda vista.

The $1,495,000 purchase is at Berowra Waters where prices haven't moved much at the much traded property. It last sold at $1.45 million in 2011 and at $1,404,000 in 2010 and at $1.4 million in 2007.

It was bought through the family company, Easter Holdings Pty Ltd.

It was bought from Elizabeth Gaines, a non-executive director of Fortescue Metals, who was the recent buyer of the North Curl Curl home of model Jennifer Hawkins and her husband, Jake Wall at $4.1 million.

The charming three level 1975 house on Calabash Point has a ground floor one-bedroom, self-contained apartment, with the three level main residence over the upper levels. There is 185 square metres of living space.

It comes with a spa, sauna, terraced gardens and a pontoon on the 765 square metre holding.
