Antoninette 'Popsy' Albert breaks Rose Bay apartment record

Film director Antoinette 'Popsy' Albert, the widow of early Australian music pioneer Ted Albert, has spent $10.25 million on a Rose Bay apartment.

The four bedroom beachfront apartment on the ground floor of the landmark Wintergarden hadn't traded since 1993 when it sold for $1.95 million.

1st City Double Bay agent Julian Hasemer secured the sale.

Antoinette Albert took over the production of Strictly Ballroom after Ted's untimely death. It went on to become on of Australia's most well known movies.

Antoinette retains mansions in Mosman, Bellevue Hill and Palm Beach, as well as an apartment in Kirribilli.

Ted was one of Australia's first independent record producers. He founded Albert Productions company and label in the 1960s.

He signed The Easybeats in 1965.
