Estate agent Craig Pontey from Ray White Double Bay said the marketing behind The Gordon development in Sydney's Paddington allowed him to sell 19 units in 19 minutes for a total of about $26 million.

He recalls it then led him to win the 2016 Palm Beach Home Marketing Campaign of the Year Award, the REA Group AREAs which are back in 2017.

The AREAs are an industry awards program that honour the most innovative, community-minded and highest-achieving individuals and businesses across property.

The AREAs awards program - currently taking this year's nominations - include Innovation, Community, Service and Marketing Excellence categories and encompass the entire property industry (residential, commercial, project developers) as well as those working in media.

In accepting his award, Pontey said they entered the awards to 'have a crack at it putting up with the big guys - CBRE and Colliers'.

"The awards gave us the opportunity to put in one of our projects that has gone very well amongst many and we thought we had a crack at it putting up with the big guys ,you know CBRE and Colliers, as the've been the guys that have done most of the project marketing over the years and we had a pretty good run over the east and we just thought we put it up and see how it went," he said.

"The project went really, really well we had great backing from our marketing team and obviously from REA and we received an enormous amount of enquiry and we were very fortunate on the day of the launch as we had a 150 people lined up in the street in Paddington and that was pretty incredible.

"It was just amazing and we lucky we sold 19 units in 19 minutes - about $26 million worth - so it was a real achievement.

"It was a fantastic night down at Melbourne and afterward it was quite incredible.

"I rang all the team and made them aware of it and as you know Gavin Rubenstein won on that night so we were pretty chuffed to win two awards.

"We were the only business that nominated and won two awards so it was a really fantastic evening.

"We’ve obviously got the trophy sitting in a private place at the front of our office when you walk in so you know its fantastic to be able to won that award.

"We put in all our submissions you know REA are a very big company its fantastic to be awarded something amongst our peers that everyone thinks is worthwhile its been great."
