The Port Douglas trophy home, The Edge has been sold according to whispers from the Whitsundays.

Its the long-listed Charles Wright designed home floating off the side of Flagstaff Hill.

It was marketed as a masterpiece in design and engineering achievement.

The recent interest came after asking price was amended to $5 million through Barbara Wolveridge at Raine & Horne Port Douglas Mossman.

Designed like an outdoor shell with cantilevered roof, the 555 sqm single level home comes with two bedrooms and a wet edge pool.

It was built for the late Sydney industrialist Peter Graham and his wife Claire who were captivated by the views over the Coral Sea and tropical rainforest mountains.

The Edge won the far North Queensland Eddie Oribin Award for building of the year at the 2015 AIA Architecture Awards.

Fresh whispers also suggest Craig and Connie Kimberley, whose family founded the Just Jeans Group, are close to a sale of their Port Douglas mansion Kalimna which had been listed through veteran agent Tony McGrath.
