The exclusive Point Piper development, Piper, a rare new development in Australia&#39;s most affluent suburb, has been a hit with buyers all over Sydney.

The project, a collaboration between two prominent eastern suburbs developers&nbsp;Fortis and Dare, has flown through the 50 per cent sold mark in just a few months, having launched the boutique collection of just 15 residences at the back end of March.

CBRE Residential Projects head&nbsp;Ben Stewart said&nbsp;they were seeing buyer enquiry coming in from everywhere from the inner west and lower north shore, with locals from Vaucluse and Dover Heights also showing keen interest.

There was even a sale to a soon-to-be downsizing owner-occupier from Point Piper&#39;s exclusive Wolseley Road, who were looking for something brand new.

&ldquo;It&rsquo;s really evident how well the apartments match up to what downsizers are looking for, both in size and their finish,&quot; Stewart says.

Stewart also says buyers are believing now is the right time to move into the apartment space, with the price gap between houses and apartments at record highs.

Buyers come from all over Sydney to take Piper to 50% sold

Point Piper is one of the most affluent suburbs in the whole of Australia.

Wolseley and Wunulla Road are home to some of the country&#39;s most expensive houses, with harbourfronts, either facing north to Manly, or down to&nbsp;the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, selling for up to $100 million.

Rarely is there an opportunity to buy&nbsp;brand new, off the pl​an property in the suburb laden with apartment blocks from the 1970s, set on land more often than not unviable for developers to knockdown and rebuild.

But Fortis, alongside Dare Property Group, are set to finally bring something new for&nbsp;new high-end apartment seekers, on the&nbsp;2,392 sqm Wunulla Road site which they joint acquired for around $40 million last year.

Dubbed Piper, at 2A Wunulla Road,&nbsp;there will be just 15 exclusive residences in the development, which will have interiors by MIM Design and sit in landscaping by Dangar Barin Smith.

The three two-bedroom plus study apartments start from 127 sqm of internal space, the three-bedroom apartments start from 161 sqm internal, and the biggest offering, the four-bedroom apartments, have an internal living space between 210 sqm and 260 sqm.

Fortis and Dare Property Group to launch exclusive Point Piper apartment development

They are the whispered buyers of the $30 million O'Neil boathouse on the Point Piper waterfront.

Ending almost 60 years of family ownership, there is still no exact price reveal on the sale.

The couple’s apartment in the Kilmory Estate was listed for $10 million. 

The Scharrers’ garden three-bedroom apartment was bought in 2016 for $6.5 million from Cynthia Cheung, of the Coogee Bay Hotel family.

Paul Scharrer sells Point Piper apartment in the Kilmory Estate

Baker Andrew Connole, one of Australia’s oft-cited business success stories, secured the pre-Christmas sale of his Point Piper waterfront home.

There is no sale price guide by Bill Malouf, of LJ Hooker Double Bay, but the $18 million sale next door two years ago by South African-born insurance industry chief Richard Enthoven was an easy comparison for buyers.

Baker Andrew Connole sells Point Piper waterfront

The Ingham family have bought the Finger Wharf apartment of digital media entrepreneur Mark Dalgleish for $6.06 million.

<a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/sold/property-apartment-nsw-woolloomooloo-123625274">The three-bedroom Woolloomooloo apartment</a> was listed last year by Ray White Double Bay agents Elliott Placks and Richard Faludi.

 This luxurious residence is one of only eight apartments at the exclusive northern end of the Finger Wharf, placed within a stroll of galleries and celebrated waterfront eateries.

The purchase is through a company with the shareholding held by Susan Ingham, widow of the late chicken and horse racing tycoon Jack Ingham.

The Point Piper-based Dalgleish bought the apartment in the Lang Walker development as an investment in 2010 for $4.5 million from Port Macquarie’s former Liberal branch president Ken Dodds.

The Port Macquarie property developer had spent $6 million to upgrade into Woolloomooloo Finger Wharf apartment in 2007 when the unit was bought from the executors of the late car dealer Peter Warren, who had paid $2.5 million in 1999. The three-bedroom apartment with two car spaces sold in 2010 through Elliott Placks of Ray White Double Bay in conjunction with Bill Bridges.

Ingham family purchases Finger Wharf apartment

<html><body>The $16 million plus Point Piper apartment sale on the weekend confirmed the suburb's status as the priciest location for Australian apartments.

The Point Piper penthouse sold on Friday evening, just hours prior to its scheduled Saturday auction.

The whole-floor apartment, within the tightly held Wentworth Place block, comes with three bedrooms and three-bathrooms.

It has views to the Bridge and Opera House.

The Wentworth Street penthouse has 300sq m of internal space plus 300sq m rooftop terracing.

It traded at $3,325,000 in 1993 and at $3.85 million in 1989.

Sydney's Point Piper boasted Australia's highest median unit value, according to CoreLogic’s best of the best 2020 report.

Point Piper took the top spot with a median unit value at $2.28 million, with all the top 10 coming from Sydney.

Nearby Darling Point ranked second at $1.78 million followed by Millers Point at $1.69 million.

$16 million plus Point Piper apartment sale

Harbourfront 110 Wolseley Road, Point Piper which hit the market last with ambitious hopes, sits on the market.
It had $37 million plus hopes soon after early 2014 saw four prestige house sales above $30 million in Point Piper.
But despite the boom - which has almost bypassed the top end - and the low Australian dollar - the Point Piper prestige market has likely gone back a gear. 
110 Wolseley is the home of Karyn Zamel, wife of mining engineer Gary Zamel, who are downsizing locally.
They have it marketed through Bart Doff at Laing &amp; Simmons inconjunction with Michael Pallier of Sothebys International. 
The three level Wolseley Road home with its jetty and pool has postcard perfect views of the Harbour Bridge.
The Zamels bought the home from Lachlan and Sarah Murdoch in 2005 for $20.6 million.
The Murdochs had paid $12 million for the trophy home in 1999, the year they married, when it was bought from the US-born mining entrepreneur Robert Friedland.
Title Tattle's memory of the property goes back to 1988 when Villa Ulivi, as it was known, was sold for $8.8 million by Florence businessman Carlo Cobianchi to then medico John Bannister.
Villa Ulivi was the precurser to the current house designed by the late Richard Christian for the US-based mining tycoon Leonard Green and his Australian-born wife, Emese.
The house had been completely rebuilt with Richard Christian-designed plans since it was sold in 1991 by then Macquarie Street orthopaedic surgeon Dr John Bannister for $6.5 million.

The sale at 2 Wunulla Road had been previously reported by Fairfax Media as "sold for about $8 million." 
The property was marketed as exuding European elegance.
Records show Cobra Equity Investments, a company linked to the diversified group, Cobra Group founded by the Canadian-born, London based Chris Niarchos sold the home at a closed auction. The main shareholder in the company is Michael Hogg, a director in Cobra's subsidiary, the marketing company Appco based in Surry Hills. 
The property last sold in 2006 for $5.1 million. 
The Agency's Michelle Andrewartha and Daniel Baran had the listing.

Point Piper price was $6.45 million

The former supermodel Kristy Hinze-Clark and her billionaire Texan husband have sold in Point Piper.
Bought for $7.65 million, it sold earlier this week reportedly for more than $8 million.
Their frequent visits to Sydney over summer have in recent years seen them rent other residences, the Vaucluse trophy home, Villa Igiea, which sold on New Year’s Eve for more than $52 million, and the nearby waterfront mansion on Coolong Road that is now home to Chinese billionaire Richard Liu having sold late last year for $36 million.
Jaime Upton of Sotheby’s International confirmed it had sold but declined to reveal the price.

CoreLogic’s best of the best 2020 report has revealed that the highest median unit value was found in Point Piper, as with 2019.

The report revealed Australia’s $7.2 trillion residential real estate market proved resilient in the face of a global pandemic, leaving an overall positive market outlook for 2021.

Eliza Owen, CoreLogic’s head of research, said the report highlighted the resilience of luxury markets in Australia.

“This is not to say these suburbs have been unaffected by the pandemic; indeed the high end of the Sydney market is generally more volatile to changes in economic conditions. However, this volatility also tends to see a rapid recovery in the wake of lower mortgage rates and an improvement in consumer sentiment.”
