A mid century modern designed home at Northwood failed to sell at weekend auction, despite a raft of architectural devotees inspecting the home.
The four bedroom 1961 Pendray Close home was designed by architect William Workman with the pioneering open plan living and dining area.
"Large windows and polished timber floors feature throughout this warm and inviting property," listing agent Bernadette Hayes at Harbourline Real Estate said.
It now has a $1.95 million asking price with the vendor planning on moving to Melbourne.
It last sold at $1,587,000 in 2015 through Hayes.
It is a double brick family home on 556sqm of land, in a calm oasis amongst the tree tops in Northwood, opposite Lane Cove Golf Club
The Modernist Australia website described it as "effortlessly stunning and sophisticated."
The house has over 3200 view on realestate.com.au, well above the typical viewing in the suburb of 2500 views per property.
There are just the two homes for sale in the suburb where there is a $2.75 million median based on the 12 sales in the past year.

A modern Northwood home built on land dating back to before the suburb got its name, has been listed for sale.
The four bedroom Private Road home (above and below) sits on 665 sqm that was once part of the Northwood House Estate, an early land purchase in the area.
The three level home features a number of living and dining spaces which opens to the outdoors.

It is being sold by Guy Freeland, who sits on the board of directors at UTS Insearch, and his wife Lyn, a retired occupational therapist.

They paid $3.5 million for the home in 2008 but are now set to downsize given their kids have flown the nest.
The home sits on land that was once the original Northwood House Estate.
Northwood House, which was built a few doors down on Private Road, was the first house built in the area. The suburbs name derives from Northwood House.
It was a substantial sandstone residence built in 1878 for Jane Davy.
It was designed by the Architect, Edmund Blacket (best known for his designs of The University of Sydney and St Andrews Cathedral).
Mrs Davy bought the 34 acres of land in 1874 and later added another 11 acres to her holding.
After Mrs Davy's death in 1903, the home and estate (divided into 48 blocks) were put on the market.
Northwood House was purchased by Mr. Abdul Wade from Bourke NSW, who used it as a depot for his camels.
Mr Wade lost the home in a poker game. 
A number of prominent families have owned Northwood House since then. During World War II, it was used by the owners as a school for mentally-handicapped children.

Northwood trophy home listed for $3.9 million

The longtime Northwood home of late Australian artist Lloyd Rees headlined weekend auctions. 
There were six registered bidders, but in the end only two took part.
Bidding opened at $2 million with it knocked down at $2.46 million to an inner west couple expecting their first child.

The home was offered for sale by Rees’ Hobart-based son Alan Rees and wife Jan.

The studio below <a href="https://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-nsw-northwood-126946806" target="_blank">his Northwood home</a> remained untouched since his 1988 death until the Art Gallery of NSW recently removed the studio’s contents for posterity.
It is Rees’ son Alan Rees and his wife Jan who have decided to sell the family home.
Rees had bought the Cliff Road block in 1934 for £300, and designed the Italianate villa-style house as his family home.
