Billionaire James Packer has spent about $80 million on a Los Angeles home once owned by actor Danny DeVito.
The home includes seven bedrooms, an eight car garage, all marble kitchen, pool, beauty salon, cigar room, cellar and private cinema on the 2700 sqm property.

Packer purchased the Holmby Heights property for nearly $25 million below the asking price of $115 million, reported London’s The Sun.

Devito and his then wife actor Rhea Perlman had lived in the home 21 years before selling it in 2015 for about $27 million.

Damon Kitney, who is set to launch The Price of Fortune: The untold story of being James Packer, published by HarperCollins, wrote Packer decided at the end of June to buy a property in Los Angeles, which for the past five years has been home to his second wife, Erica Packer, and their children Indigo, Jackson and Emmanuelle.
“I just want to say what an incredible job Erica is doing bringing them up,” Mr Packer said in an interview with The Weekend Australian last October.
“I always thought she’d be a good mother and she is proving that every day … LA is a really terrific place for them to be. There is a lot of positive energy, a lot of positive affirmation there. And there is not the Packer ­fishbowl that there would have been in Sydney. They have anonymity there that they don’t have in Sydney. That is really healthy for them.”

He previously has rented the guesthouse of movie legend Warren Beatty on the storied Mulholland Drive in Beverly Hills.
He divides his time between the home he shares with Ms Packer in Aspen, his polo ranch in Argentina and a resort villa in Los Cabos, Mexico.
Packer’s purchase of the new Beverly Hills home will be funded by the sale of EJI — the first initials of his three children — for which he reportedly has been asking $65.7 million, and by the sale of his Bondi Beach apartment.
Kitney wrote in The Australian that Packer has no immediate plans to resume doing business in Hollywood.

Olympic swimming legend Ian Thorpe, the five-time gold medalist, has an offer on his Hollywood hillside home.
It came on its latest attempt at a sale.
The organic-themed two bedroom Laurel Canyon home came with a listing price of $US950,000.
Now its US listing site suggests the agent was 'accepting back up offers', in case the current offer fails to proceed to escrow.
Thorpe paid $US879,000 for the Hollywood treetop escape in 2006 upon his initial retirement.
He tried to sell it in 2013 with a $US999,000 price tag.
It dates back to the 1960s as an artist retreat originally owned by actor John Compton.
It sits high above the trees with two bedrooms, one bathroom, a breezy living area and kitchen and a wood-panelled office.
All with views across the canyon.
The only hint of Thorpe's ownership is what looks like a framed photo of him in the pool hung up on the wall in the foyer.
Nicknamed the Thorpedo, Thorpe is one of Australia's most decorated Olympians, securing five gold medals in the 2000 and 2004 Olympic games.
The property served as one of his overseas home bases as he tried to get back into competitive swimming before the 2012 London Olympics, however he failed in the trials.
His sale comes ahead of the touted exodus of Aussie expats and disillusioned Americans looking to pull up their American roots after Donald Trump was made President elect.
Since the Trump vote, daily property searches for Sydney property from US IP addresses on realestate.com.au have jumped by more than 300 percent.
Sydney has been the most searched for city, ahead of Melbourne and Adelaide.
Most of the searches came from California and New York, both Hillary Clinton strongholds.
Quick exits from the still troubled US property markets won't however be easy. 
Singer Delta Goodrem's Hollywood Hills home comes with reduced hopes.
She first listed back in March for $US4.199 million ($AUD5.74 million), but the asking price has now been reduced to $US3.68 million.
The multi-award winning singer bought the five bedroom, four bathroom home for a reported $AUD2.3 million in 2010.
Located just 10 kilometres from the Hollywood sign, her house features her very own music room completed with a piano and drum kit.
It offers views that stretch from the mountains to LA's city lights.

Ian Thorpe gets offer in LA

Melbourne estate agent Glen Coutinho has joined the Harcourts USA team as its director of growth and training, for the Pacific Region.
He will also become owner of a new office in Beverly Hills.

Coutinho’s (pictured middle) is a director of RT Edgar Boroondara, in Melbourne, ranked among the top 10 real estate agents in Australia for the past six years running.
Coutinho is a licensed auctioneer and has conducted over 8000 auctions to date in his career.
As a keynote speaker for Harcourts Australia and Harcourts New Zealand events, Mr Coutinho sees this new chapter as an extension of a long relationship with Harcourts owners, Mike and Irene Green and Paul Wright.
“With two of my sons recording music in LA, the opportunity to work with an established brand with people I already know and trust here in the USA was a simple fit,” said Mr Coutinho.

Together with his wife Simonne, and children Brooke, Jack, Billy, Mason and Jules, the family has made the move to live in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles.

Actress Rachel Griffiths gets offer on longtime Los Angeles home

Former Spice Girl Mel B and her ex-husband, film producer Stephen Belafonte, have sold their former West Hollywood home for $US5.55 million.
It had been for sale since their 2017 separation when they initially wanted $US8.9 million.
They paid $US4.34 million in 2014 for the 1928-built West Hollywood home, after they sold their former LA home in San Fernando Valley to Charlie Sheen’s ex-wife Brooke Mueller for $US3.3 million.
The four-bedroom home featured a recording studio, bar, theatre and games room.
Before their split the couple had reportedly considered buying in Sydney, where they rented while Scary Spice was a host on Dancing With The Stars, X-Factor Australia and Australia’s Got Talent.
In 2011, they rented a sprawling penthouse apartment in Rose Bay, said to be worth more than $8 million.
The New South Head Road loft had views of the Opera House and Bridge.
They then rented a waterfront Vaucluse mansion before downsizing to a Wentworth Road apartment.
“My kids go to school, my husband and I love all the restaurants and we all love the Sydney lifestyle,” Mel B said in 2013.
Her eldest daughter went to Rose Bay Secondary College.
The couple also invested in the popular Sydney Harbour floating bar The Island.
