Society hairdresser Joh Bailey has sold his current country equestrian holding on Sydney’s outskirts along with an inner-city pad with hopes to buy in the NSW Southern Highlands.
Bailey and his partner, ­Michael Christie, a professional equestrian, sold near Camden for $1.537 million plus at recent auction.
The Oaks property on <a href="https://www.acreagesales.com.au/3253242/" target="_blank">The Old Oaks Road</a>, had been bought in 2008 for $692,000.
Decorated in classic Hamptons style with a touch of Ralph Lauren glamour, it sold for just over its ­reserve price to a local horse owner through the United Acreage Marketing Group.
It had been extensively renovated.
The property includes five bedrooms, a full-sized dressage arena, post-and-rail fencing and bores and dams.
Mr Bailey has also sold a 37sq m one-bedroom apartment in Rushcutters Bay for $540,000, through McGrath agent Ben Collier.
The apartment, which Bailey inherited from Suzanne Pritchard, known for her bright orange post-modern quiff, sold before auction. 
A fixture on the Sydney social scene for decades, Pritchard died suddenly in her Rushcutters Bay apartment from a heart attack in 2015.
"She would shop at David Jones every day," her long time hairdresser and confidant Joh Bailey told someone who was interested.
Her story was actually fascinating as she famously appeared one of the Happy Little Vegemites in the 1950s.
