InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) and Pointcorp, have signed a management agreement for a new build Hotel Indigo, to be located in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley.
The 140-room hotel on 458 Brunswick Street is the first Hotel Indigo signing for Australia and New Zealand.
It is due to open in 2020.
Hotel Indigo is IHG’s lifestyle boutique hotel offering. 
Karin Sheppard, Chief Operating Officer Australasia &amp; Japan, IHG said the search has been underway since late 2014.
It will be developing it in partnership with Pointcorp whose developments include Brisbane The Highgate and luxuriously appointed riverfront Vida.
IHG currently has 26 hotels operating under four brands in Australia: InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express.
Launched in 2004, there are 72 Hotel Indigo properties (8,500 rooms) globally with 68 hotels (9,700 rooms) in the pipeline.
In 2017, Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach will open.

IHG signs first Hotel Indigo in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley

Developer Perri Projects will launch a boutique luxury hotel, restaurant and event space in South Melbourne on the corner of Moray and Dorcas Streets.
Perri Projects purchased a 700sqm site in 2005 and has purchased two adjoining sites since.
The site has been granted a planning permit by the City of Port Phillip Council.
Perri Projects managing director, David Scalzo said they are in early discussions with hospitality groups for partnerships in the restaurant and functions centre. 
"More than a hotel, we envisage this mixed-use development to be a lifestyle destination in South Melbourne including retail, food and beverage, and a rooftop function and events centre,” he said.
"There is a distinct lack of new, luxury hotel offerings in this area. The majority of existing hotel stock around St Kilda Road and South Melbourne is now ageing considerably so we’ve identified a real gap in the market for quality, bespoke hotels for business and high-end leisure travellers.
The hotel, designed by, Plus Architecture, will boast three street frontages.
Plus Architecture Director Ian Briggs said the façade was imagined as a collection of crystalline blocks in which gritty concrete frames are juxtaposed with vapour-like glazing to create a dream-like presence.
The hotel is aimed at the business premium market and features a pool, gym and business centre.

Approval given for new boutique South Melbourne hotel

Coronation Property has announced QT Hotels &amp; Resorts has entered into an agreement to open its third hotel in New South Wales within the 8 Phillip Street mixed-use apartment tower in Parramatta. 
The hotel will be Parramatta’s first five-star offering.
The Woods Bagot designed 54 storey building will include 14 levels of designer QT Hotel accommodation below 35 levels of apartments. 
The building design includes capacity for 205 standard deluxe rooms, 50 executive deluxe rooms and two QT suites.
The quirky designer hotel will feature a stunning three storey lobby void, which will be independent from the adjacent residential lobby. 
Inspiration for the lobby’s three storey staircase was drawn from Louis Vuitton’s Vienna outlet.
Hotel amenities will include a signature QT bar &amp; grill restaurant which will also be open to the public, multiple meeting and event spaces, a ballroom accommodating 200 people seated and an alfresco infinity pool on the 18th storey.
Joe Nahas, Managing Director, Coronation Property said 8 Phillip Street’s world-class design will be a transformative project for Parramatta.
QT Hotels’ signature designer, yet quirky spaces, combined with bold entertainment and relaxing guest experiences has become renowned in the hotel and hospitality sector since it opened QT Gold Coast in 2011.

Coronation Property’s transformative ‘8 Phillip Street’ to include Parramatta’s first luxury design-driven hotel

AccorHotels, Australia's largest hotel operator, have announced that Tamworth are set for a new-build Mercure hotel which is scheduled to open in December 2016.
The three-storey, 52-room Mercure Tamworth hotel is currently under development at the West Tamworth League Club on Phillip Street.
The hotel will be located within the Club's precinct which includes entertainment venues, a stadium, food and beverage outlets and gaming and conferencing facilities.
Hotel facilities will include a swimming pool and a gym.
AccorHotels Pacific chief operating officer Simon McGrath is happy with the partnership.
“We’re delighted to bring the Mercure brand to Tamworth in partnership with Wests Entertainment Group," he said.
"We enjoy partnering with clubs as there is ample spare land to build new accommodation and support the existing club facilities to benefit members and the travelling public.
“We are confident that the Mercure hotel will provide much-needed new hotel supply for Tamworth and help drive the corporate and leisure visitor economies in regional NSW. 
West Entertainment Group CEO Rod Laing echoed McGrath's sentiment.

Mercure Tamworth is located 12kms from the main regional airport and five hours drive north of Sydney.
Mercure Tamworth compliments AccorHotels’ existing economy hotel, the ibis Styles Tamworth and joins a network of more than 40 Mercure hotels across Australia and over 700 worldwide.

Quest Apartment Hotels has partnered with property developer MAB to build its biggest apartment hotel complex.
The $71 million developer at New Quay in Melbourne's Docklands represents the first transaction for the $500 million strategic partnership established by Quest and Ascott, the world's largest serviced apartment owner-operators.
The Ascott Limited is a subsidiary of SGX-listed CapitaLand, one of the largest real estate companies in Asia.
The partnership was established between the companies to invest in new Quest developments across Australia's eastern seaboard.
MAB will design and develop the property, which will begin construction early next year and open in 2019.
It will offer 221 rooms.
Quest chairman Paul Constantinou said this deal represents the blueprint for how the partnership will operate in the future.
“We established this $500m strategic partnership with Ascott to provide our development partners with greater certainty of return through certainty of property take-out," he said.
"We expect this to enable Quest to accelerate its network rollout particularly across CBD and suburban Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
 
Constantinou suggested that whilst the domestic accommodation market remains strong and has continued its growth for over a decade, supply of new rooms has lagged in most markets. 
"This is mainly as a result of the lack of support from domestic institutions in the sector.
"Investment from large scale Asian groups like Ascott, will enable the sector locally to meet the demand.”
It's the first of what will be many development under Quest's collaboration with Ascott.
Quest continues to actively seek opportunities within the suburbs and CBD’s of Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, particularly with blue chip development partners with a strong track record of delivery.

Quest Apartment Hotels set for 221 room Docklands development

Australian developer Flagship Property Holdings has been appointed by Plenary Group to develop a 331-room, 20 storey four-star hotel as part of the $300 million expansion of the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) and South Wharf Precinct.
The hotel is due to be completed in the first half of 2018. Probuild, architects Woods Bagot and NH Architecture will also work on the project.
Flagship Property Holdings chief executive officer Steve Wise said Flagship and Plenary previously partnered on the Hilton Melbourne South Wharf hotel, developed as part of the Melbourne Convention Centre and South Wharf DFO Retail Precinct.
“The MCEC is one of Australasia’s leading conference centres, so we’re excited to be given the opportunity to develop the new hotel in conjunction with our project partners as part of the Centre’s broader expansion," he said.
“We’re now looking forward to progressing plans and commencing on-site works for the new hotel, which is going to play a key role in helping MCEC attract even larger and more diverse events to the city.”
