Off-field top marks for retired ruck man Darren Jolly in renovated Surrey Hills cottage

AFL premiership player Darren Jolly and his wife Deanne have listed their self-renovated Edwardian era Surrey Hills home.

It was apparently done by the ruckman on days off and after training, along with his wife.

The house has been scheduled for March 29 auction as the pair step into the development industry.

Paul Richards, the Bekdon Richards listing agent, has described the three bedroom cottage's renovation as one of the best he’d seen in 13 years in real estate.

The 1910 property at 17 Empress Road has period features including high ceilings, stained glass and original fireplaces as well as for contemporary comforts such as refrigerated cooling and ducted heating. 

The couple will get a good indicator of their likely selling price as two doors along - another 1910 cottage - goes to March 15 auction through Marshall White agent Michael Wood.

The former Collingwood, Sydney and Melbourne ruck man, a reluctant 2013 AFL retiree, is St Kilda's part-time ruck coach.
