Hazelwood House in Mittagong has been listed for sale by architects Allan Stevens and Naomi Fry, founding partners of Esquisse Design Studio.

Over their decade ownership they've reinterpreted Hazelwood House, built in the 1940s with influences from Cape Cod architecture.

The two storey home is made out of local granite.

Under the timber shingles and slate roof is four bedrooms, five bathrooms an a grand living room with open sandstone fireplace.

The stone outbuilding which was a garage and workshop is now a self-contained pool house with a loft-suite, state of the art gym with limestone bathroom, double steam room, hydro-therapy shower and Technogym Kinesis machine.

It adjoins the heated stone-lined swimming pool, eight person spa and tennis court with stone gazebo in the 1.75 hectare landscaped grounds.

Separated from Hazelwood House is Baynton Cottage, a two storey sandstone cottage with two bedrooms and a self-contained third bedroom.

A stone stairway leads to the expansive lower garden that features a heated plunge pool, parterre rose garden, greenhouse and boules court.

It is currently run as short-term accomodation earning around $100,000 per annum.

Drew Lindsay Bowral agent Sam Lindsay is asking for $6.5 million. Stevens and Fry paid $1.8 million in 2009.
