Mandalay House on Airlie Beach has been voted the finest house for sale in the world in 2015 by luxury real estate listing website Mansion Global.

Located in the heart of the world heritage listed Great Barrier Reef, the famous Whitsunday waters property, Mandalay House beat off stiff competition from a tropical retreat in Hawaii and a French Riviera villa to secure to accolade.

The luxury property took four years to complete after being given an open book policy by owner and developer Neil Murray.

Designed by Andrew Simpsons of Total Project Group who specialises in Mediterranean resort style architecture.

The owners drew inspiration from their own travels, drawing particular inspiration from their trips to Nice and Monte Carlo.

Antique furnishings fill the 2649 sqm residence which has seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms and all the trimmings expected with the finest house for sale in the world label.

A home office with secretarial space, a cellar with dining for 12, home cinema, gym, pool room are amongst the inside grandeur.

There is an oceanfront pavilion with dining for 14, horizon swimming pool, 22.5 metre marina berth, two jet-ski docks, boatshed and a helipad on the 4,241 sqm land space.
