The Bayside suburb of Hampton attracts a diverse demographic

Hampton has quietly evolved as a sought-after suburb in Melbourne's Bayside area.

On the fringes of the ever unaffordable Brighton, Hampton has positioned itself as offering the same exclusive Bayside lifestyle without the high-end price point that Brighton will always carry.

And the Hampton Activity Centre, incorporating the popular Hampton Street, which is becoming well known for its retail, cafe, and restaurant culture, is bringing a different type of buyer to the area.

Developers have the option of being nearer the bay or nearer the retail, or ideally somewhere in between the two. Hampton is just 20 minutes to the city, which has further encouraged buyers wanting to move to nearer the water and still be able to commute when necessary.

There's been a few recent apartment projects hit the market in Hampton, which we've taken a look at in closer detail.

Soul Hampton

Differentiating itself from the larger projects on the market in the area, Soul Hampton offers just eight apartments in the Finnis Architecture-designed building, which features a sleek modern exterior blending with lush greenery.

A stone's throw from Hampton Beach at 14-16 Grenville Street, Soul Hampton is made up of two and three-bedroom apartments, ranging in size from a generous 120 sqm to 181 sqm.

Soul of Hampton isn’t just located in one of the most prestigious and luxurious suburbs in Melbourne, it’s in the heart of it.

Located on the doorstep of the Sandringham Yacht Club – Australia’s number one yacht club – Soul apartments have created resort style living, with interiors of natural stone and high-end veneer timber panelling, as well as high-end finishes and Gaggenau appliances.

Liebherr integrated fridges also feature in the kitchens, along with underfloor heating in all bathrooms and gas fireplaces.

Hampton Hill

Developer: Lowe Living

The leading Bayside developers, Lowe Living, latest arrival, Hampton Hill offers a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments, including two luxury penthouses which have panoramic bay and city views.

The 7.5 Star energy rated apartments, officially the highest energy saving apartments on offer in Hampton, each feature natural stone kitchens with Miele appliances, and terraces off the open plan living space designed for alfresco dining.

Following the launch of the group’s newest Bayside apartment development, around half of the boutique 32-apartment development is either sold or reserved.

A collaboration between the globally renowned architects Woods Bagot and landscape architects Florian Wild, the building’s façade has been designed to adapt Hampton Hill’s namesake mural into a prominent identity for the streetscape.

The interiors features a harmony of light and space, as pale oak flooring, honed natural stone and bespoke joinery create a palette of earthy neutrals and bay inspired hues.

The living zones are connected to nature through a series of terrace planters, coastal grasses and cascading foliage in the outdoor spaces.

The development is zoned for a number of prestigious schools nearby and has the hospitality and retail precinct of Hampton on its doorstep.

New Hampton

Developer: Pitard Group

Pitard Group will be bringing 19 apartments to the hear of Hampton. Pitard drew inspiration from the project, dubbed New Hampton, from the sites location.

New Hampton offers homes with spacious interiors, terraces, and high-end detailing. Created by Melbourne-based builders Pitard Group, residences utilise a soft, neutral palette, with a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments.

With expansive layouts and living spaces to suit an array of needs, the dwellings have been designed to filter natural light throughout the home, while indoors to outdoors blend seamlessly together with the terrace connection.

Designed around the island bench, and further accentuating the apartment’s open-plan design, kitchens encompass premium joinery, abundant storage, woodgrain feature panels, top-quality appliances and high-end fixtures and finishes.

The Hampton address is perfectly positioned to enjoy Bayside’s beaches, abundant parklands and more than 50 cafes, boutiques and restaurants that line Hampton Street.

Hampton Bay

Developer: Life Project Group

Created by Life Project Group with acclaimed architect Martin Friedrich, Hampton Bay delivers a range of open, light, and innovative residences at 24 Grenville Street - landing within Hampton’s famed Golden Triangle.

Hampton Bay consists of just nine residences; four apartments; two villas; and three sky-penthouses.

Inspired by function, the four generously proportioned single-level apartments are pitched at the downsizer. The apartments focus on indoor and outdoor living, with the internals opening to large private courtyards set in John Patrick designed gardens.

Residents can enjoy single level living in one of only two north-facing townhome-style first floor residences. With an indoor-outdoor living flow, northern light and bay breezes spill through the expansive windows and sliding doors into the living areas.

The three sky penthouses are true to renowned architect Martin Friedrich’s style – combining contemporary coastal-inspired design with a fluid form. The penthouses, that are set over two levels with a spiral staircase, feature high ceilings and full height windows and designer kitchens with Gaggenau appliances.
