Pace Development Group and Global Electric Transport have entered into an arrangement for all future Pace apartment complexes to be Electric Vehicle-ready.

Their partnership will kick off at the Pace of Blackburn residential development at 160 Whitehorse Road.

It will see GET supply and install five state-of-the-art shared charging stations for apartment residents and visitors.

Pace of Blackburn has four towers – three residential and one commercial.

There will be 200 apartments across the three towers. The complex will have 697 car spaces.

The intent is to get ahead of the game, given the increasing expected demand for EVs which will see costly retrofitting of apartment complexes, according to Pace sales and marketing director Ashley Bramich.

“Given the increasing demand and inevitable widespread adoption of EVs it makes sense to built the concept into the design of all future developments, and avoid very costly retrofitting in the future,” Mr Bramich said.

"It won’t be long before apartments sold as EV ready will be priced at a premium," he said noting it's estimated that 40% of all cars sold in Australia by 2030 will be EVs.

"Pace is future-proofing its buildings for the benefit of our residents and the communities we develop in.”

GET chief executive officer Harry Hamann said the recharging runs via an app with "the user interface seamless."

Pace of Blackburn is under construction with prices for one bedroom, one bathroom apartments starting from $395,000; two bedrooms from $550,000 and three bedrooms from $840,000.

Some Pace purchasers qualified for the HomeBuilder grant.

Ascui & Co., headed by Gonzalo Ascui, set out to design an urban village within the triangular site.
