Design-driven developer Neometro has revealed its latest project.

Their luxury South Yarra apartment development, 49 Walsh Street, has just 10 two, three and four-bedroom apartments within the heart of Melbourne’s iconic Domain Precinct bordering the Royal Botanic Gardens, the Tan, the Yarra River and the CBD.

This historically significant part of the city boasts some of Melbourne's most iconic architecture. MORQ, the design firm behind 49 Walsh Street, aimed to harmonise the development with its historic surroundings with a design that is grounded in timeless architectural principles.

“We strive to design buildings that stand outside of time, untethered to any singular era, style or place," MORQ Director Andrea Quagliola said.

"Buildings that get this right can’t be reduced to a movement, fashion or label. There’s a sense of restrained monumentality in their simplicity that feels eternal."

The development, marking Neometro’s most high-end work to date, draws inspiration from natural light, geometry, and materiality.

The ground-floor apartments provide a sense of seclusion and a strong connection to nature, featuring private courtyards with abundant greenery, two bedrooms and private entrances.

On levels one and two, enveloped by a canopy of trees and bathed in dappled light, the apartments include spacious main bedrooms, butler's kitchens and dedicated entry halls.

All apartments have generous living areas, well-appointed kitchens, laundry areas, and outdoor cooking and dining spaces.

MORQ's work is distinguished by a deep connection to Rome's historical heritage and an appreciation for its enduring European architectural design adapted to a modern Australian context.

Residents at 49 Walsh Street will enjoy a well-rounded and convenient lifestyle, surrounded by natural beauty like the Royal Botanic Gardens, Yarra River, Fawkner Park, and Albert Park Lake. Urban amenities, such as the restaurants and cafes that line Toorak Rd, South Yarra Station, and The Como Centre Shopping Mall, are within a 20-minute walk from the property.

This project marks MORQ's first multi-residential project in Melbourne. The majority of their portfolio comprises luxury houses in Italy, earning them numerous awards and international recognition.

Their Floeat, Perth house, Cloister House, received the Marshall Clifton Award for Residential Architecture at the WA Institute of Architecture Awards in 2019. Additionally, a house they designed in Noosa secured the Building of the Year award at the 2015 Sunshine Coast Regional Architecture Awards by the Australian Institute of Architects.

Neometro have been at the forefront of forward-thinking development since 1985 when they were founded by Jeff Provan and Barry Ludlow, who from the outset had a focus on providing striking new apartment developments across Melbourne.

Apartments at 49 Walsh Street start at $3.975 million, with an estimated completion date set for July 2025.
