De Novo, Latin for a new, or from the beginning, was the first Brunswick East apartment development by local developer A&O Projects.

The 7-star energy rated building, completed in 2017, comprises just 44 apartments on Gamble Street, conveniently located next to East Brunswick Village.

Designed by the architects at SGKS, the one and two-bedroom apartments sit above two street-level retail tenancies.

Each apartment at De Novo showcases a well-planned layout. The open-plan living and dining zone seamlessly connect to the balconies, creating an expansive and light-filled area.

The kitchens are complete with a stone benchtop, SMEG appliances, and a dishwasher, while addition study space within the apartments further extends the living space within each. The modern bathroom, featuring Euro laundry facilities, adds to the overall practicality and functionality of the residences.

De Novo Apartments are nestled in a quiet cul-de-sac location, presenting a tranquil retreat within easy reach of the vibrant offerings of East Brunswick, with local schools, restaurants, cafes, parks, and public transport within walking distance from the site.

Drawing inspiration from the neighbourhood's rich manufacturing history and mid-century design cues, De Novo's aesthetic showcases art deco influences, evident in its horizontal steel-framed windows, metalwork balustrades, and brickwork.

Unlike many oversized apartment projects, De Novo has intentionally retained a residential scale to harmonise with its low-rise neighbours. The building's terraced form, stepping back from the site's perimeter, also accommodates hanging gardens and planter boxes.
