South Melbourne, one of the Melbourne's oldest suburban areas with well-preserved Victorian-era homes amidst cosmopolitan amenities, continues to evolve and revive itself into a melting pot of culture, heritage and contemporary living. 

Nic Crema, head of Projects by Crema, wanted to bring something different to his Palmerston Crescent site, between three of Melbourne's best parks and conveniently located near St Kilda Rd.

The result is The Eighth, a mixed-use development of commercial office space, 36 high-end apartments, a resident rooftop with swimming pool and bar, and a new holistic corporate wellbeing business taking up the whole of the podium level.

Designed by Elenberg Fraser and Kennon, the 18-level building has recently completed, welcoming its first residents over the Christmas break.

While South Melbourne is well known for its markets, The Eighth offers a different lens of South Melbourne, while still only being a few kilometres from the hotspot which draws visitors from all across Melbourne.

The Eighth is in an ideal transport pocket, just off the bus stops on Park Street, a few hundred metres to St Kilda Road which runs in and out of the city, as well as the new Anzac Station which is expected to be a game changer for the precinct when it opens in 2025.

Convenience is at the foot of the building in the Palms Cafe and Beppi's Wine Bar on the ground floor. Coffee spots are plentiful nearby, with The Kettle Black and Albertchino Cafe just around the corner, while The Olive Tree, next door to The Eighth, is the perfect spot for seafood and steak. Another popular food option is Japanese bento at Oishii Tokyo, two minutes from the doorstep.

the Clarendon Street shopping strip, Coles, and the Clarendon Centre shopping mall are only a 15-minute walk down the road, while the famous South Melbourne Market is a 25-minute stroll away from The Eighth. 

Homemade Donuts, Simply Spanish and other cuisine restaurants in South Melbourne's covered food market sit alongside fresh fruit and vegetable stores, butchers, seafood vendors, coffee shops, fashion boutiques, souvenir stores, and florists.

Residents can visit several sports centres, pet stores, Officeworks, salons, home goods stores, bars and eateries, knowing home at The Eighth is just a stroll away.
