Construction has commenced on the Preston apartment project, Oak on High.

Developed by M Property, the project takes inspiration from the sites heritage, combined with a modern and future forward design.

“It’s a first-class precinct that will enrich, enliven and complement Preston’s existing scene,” developer M Property note.

Straddling the fringe of the vibrant Preston South hub and the Thornbury strip, Oak on High is a curated collection of one, two and three-bedroom residences just eight kilometres from the CBD, designed by St Kilda Architects, Artisan.

The minimal and light filled homes present spacious and considered floorplans that fit the modern lifestyle, with first class fittings and finishes, fundamental security, and sustainable design accentuating this amenity rich and enviable neighbourhood development.

The lower levels of Oak combine tactile metals and grey tone brickwork that reflects the industrial past of Preston.

In contrast, the upper levels are lighter, with modern materiality that blends not only the two distinct sections of the façade, but the residential past and future of the surrounding area.

Spread across eight stories, Oak on High will comprise 62 apartments, each adjoining to a spacious balcony, which provides light and cross flow ventilation throughout, as well as acting as extension to the home.

Crowning Oak will be the residential amenity area, complete with a dining room, kitchen barbecue and playground, surrounded by lush, green landscaping that spills over the edge.

The building incorporates the latest technology throughout, with secure and contactless entry, video intercoms, CCTV and secure parking.

Residents will also be at home with a virtual concierge service, which will take care of maintenance requirements, parcel management using smart lockers, bookings for personal household cleaning and dry cleaning, among an array of other errands.

The app will also update residents with the latest building news and community information, as well as acting as a guide to the best nearby restaurants, social events, parks and more.

Oak on High has been designed with people and the environment as a priority.

Surpassing development norms, Oak on High achieves an 8.7 Star NatHERS rating, translating to a reduced carbon footprint for residents, as well as a significant cost saving on energy bills.

Drought tolerant plant species that are best suited to the local climate and require little to no sub surface irrigation will be utilised throughout, with planter boxes available for communal use, with edible herbs and citrus trees.

Residents are spoilt for choice, with an abundance of parkland and trails nearby to the site, including the Darebin and Merri Creek Trails, Penders Park, Preston City Oval and All Nationals Park just to name a few.

Close to the southern boundary of Preston, Oak on High offers a genuine blend of the traditional Preston and more recent hipster Thornbury vibes.

Funky nooks have melded their way into Preston, with the likes of Benzina Cantina, which combines a love of motorbikes and tacos, while toward Thornbury residents can find the Greek delights of GRK Greek Kitchen and Bar, along with Umberto Espresso Bar and Street Dogz, before stepping to the more traditional High Street which has long been the spot for a cheap and authentic Asian meal.

Less than a 10 minute drive or a short bus trip away, Northland Shopping Centre is the biggest shopping centre in the northern suburbs, with the likes of Myer, H&M, Rebel Sport and some 300 plus fashion and lifestyle stores, as well as a Hoyts cinema.

With a well-connected location and a future-forward design, Oak on High still has a selection of one, two and three-bedroom apartments remaining, with the one-bedders spanning from 82 sqm to the three-bedders at 126.5 sqm.
