UK-based former Rabbitohs star George Burgess sells redundant Randwick home
The now UK-based former South Sydney Rabbitohs star George Burgess and wife Joanne had no sooner landed in the UK than their redundant Randwick home was sold for $3 million.
Mark Carroll and Lauren Simpson, two fitness stars, will soon become its first occupants, along with their other recent purchase, Rocky, a Husky puppy.
Simpson, who has a following of 1.7 million on Instagram, was the 2018 WBFF Bikini World Champion and Carroll is a well known trainer and is head of education at Clean Health Fitness Institute.
The recently departed Burgess paid $2.7 million for the apartment off the plan in early 2016 when it was just him and his then girlfriend, the interior designer Joanna.
George, Joanna and the kids were greeted recently at the UK airport by the welcoming extended Burgess clan, included his former NRL playing brother Luke Burgess and mum Julie.
Now married with three children, the new Randwick apartment was always going to be surplus to their family requirements.
Having signed with English Super League club Wigan Warriors, the apartment was listed ahead of its recent completion.
Burgess scored the Randwick sale through his former team mate turned NG Farah Real Estate agent Beau Champion and Glenn Farah.
Burgess had been in red and green since 2012, playing 150 games for the club.
He won the 2014 Premiership with the Rabbitohs alongside twin brother Tom and older brothers Sam and Luke.
The split level apartment in the MHNDU-designed block of eight known as EPOQUE has three bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Located at the rear of the block, the upper level garden homes a plunge pool. There's 270 square metres of external space, added to the 125 square metre internal.
Last year he offloaded the family's former Chifley home for $1.6 million, as well as a Little Bay investment which sold for $1.35 million.
Over 50 Australians have played for Wigan over the years.
They are in training with the season kicking off at the end of January.
Burgess is joining ex New Zealand Warrior Thomas Leuluai, who joined the northern club in 2017.
