Tweet of the day: Without the Asian couple bidding, Block contestants "screwed" say Kyle and Jackie O

Not unlike Kyle and Jackie O to court controversy, they tweeted out about The Block auctions claiming that without the Asian buyers, the contestants would be "screwed".

After a number of retweets and a wave of responses, some calling it a "conspiracy", a response from @hashhag noted "Asian bidders are the backbone of our auction market. Without them we could all still afford to live in Sydney."

Another, @playwithdom, suggested their funds come from rich parents in China, querying how anyone at 20 could afford the apartments.

The couple have been identified by Fairfax as 20 year old engineering student Shiji Ma and Yue Pan, who reportedly purchased the apartment for her parents.
