In at least one area, Australians are doing things bigger and better than Americans.

While Australians aren't the only ones seeing an uptick in inner city shoebox living, we aren't quite squeezing residents into single dwellings this small.

According to Politico, Seattle is seeing a boom in micro-apartments. The one pictured in its tweeted infographic is 192 square feet  – around 17.83 square metres.

The linked article, 'Scrunched in Seattle', notes the city allows residences as small as 90 square feet – 8.36 square metres.

A far cry from the proposed 37 square metre minimum under consideration by the Victorian government.
