Yesterday, the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) reported 1% price growth for Melbourne houses in the September quarter.

The city, like every other Australian capital, saw price growth well below Sydney's 2.7% quarterly result.

Andrew Wilson, senior economist at the Domain Group, noted the ABS' September quarter figure was relatively close to his organisation's estimates.

Fellow data house RP Data recorded a steeper price increase for the same period, reporting a 1.8% price increase for Melbourne houses earlier this month.
