Palmilla, the luxury Toorak home of the retired APAC chairman of ad agency DDB John Ziegler and wife Lisa, has sold.

There's been no price reveal but it's suggested it fell just short of the recent price hopes of $23 million plus.

The Heyington Place home (above and below), commissioned in the 1930s by the Shelmerdine family, had been initially offered in spring last year with a guide of $27 million to $29.5 million.

The Zeiglers paid $3.4 million back in 2002.

The six bedroom, five bathroom home sits in private 2,285 square metres of established gardens with a gas heated pool and a tennis court.

The basement garaging for over 10 cars doubles up as entertainment space with a bar.

Carmyle, the grand Toorak trophy home that was among the earliest in the suburb, has also been sold, believed to be for around $13.5 million.

It was listed for sale in October with a guide of $12.5 million to $13.75 million.

It was listed by the Gunter family, who have owned the home since 1969.

The 23-room Victorian Italianate manor (below) was designed by Francis Maloney White in the late 1870s for Scottish pastoralist Archibald Fisken.

The home has up to 14 bedrooms, six bathrooms, a number of kitchens, a reception hall, a refined sitting room and a ballroom.

Now on 2000 square metres, the estate once extended from Kooyong Road to Albany Road.
