Channel 7 sports reporter Tom Browne knocked back $2.06 million when his renovated 1890s Toorak home went to spring auction last year.

It was listed with reported price expectations of $1.9 million, but its reserve price was revealed post auction as $2.3 million by Kay & Burton.

The settlement documents lodged last week indicated he secured $2.2 million.

The double-storey terrace, with 136 square metres living space, on a 374 square metre block at 5 Canterbury Road includes three bedrooms, a study, a formal lounge and a huge open-plan casual living area.

Browne, son of former Nine managing director Jeff Browne, bought the house in 2007 for $1.2 million. He has since renovated it.

Jeff Browne recently sold his Bondi Beach apartment.

Tom quit his job as a lawyer to follow his media dream, learning the ropes at WIN TV in Bendigo. He has been at Seven since 2010.
