The Coogee-based comedian Tim Minchin and wife Sarah have bought themselves a weekender in Kangaroo Valley.

They've paid $1.08 million for the renovation project.

The two storey brick and Colorbond home last sold for $30,000 in 1989.

Spanning two level, the home has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a number of living areas and outdoor terraces.

There's a semi-cleared house paddock on the near five hectare block.

Raine & Horne Berry agents Jacqueline Crapp and Luke Tancred secured the sale, initially seeking $1.25 million in March.
