Costly trophy homes and expensive purchases are a source of fascination for real estate fans across Australia.

Daily, our trophy homes section is filled with new tales of multi-million dollar homes in prestige Point Piper, Sandy Bay, Vaucluse, Peppermint Bay and any other number of top dollar properties. They’re often beautiful, and sometimes gaudy, but always worth a look.

Interestingly, despite the record-breaking sales seen by some of these homes, they don’t rate a mention on this infographic detailing the world’s most expensive homes.

Unsurprisingly, Antilia tops the list, with a staggering price over $1 billion.
