The Rocks, the most prestigious residence in Western Australia’s oldest settlement at Albany, is on the market at $4.25 million.

The stately stone Regency style holiday home of the former governor of WA, the city’s answer to Kirribilli House with sweeping views of Princess Royal Harbour.

In 2000 it was purchased by retired farmers from Wagin, who have restored The Rocks to its former glory and turned it into a bed and breakfast.

Agent Jeremy Stewart of Merrifield Real Estate said The Rocks provided wonderful opportunities for somebody passionate about Albany’s history.

Albany, founded in 1826 as a military outpost for New South Wales, is Western Australia’s first settlement some 400 kilometres south-east of Perth
