Mornington takes the equal top spot as Hobart's 2016/2017 hotspot for investing in houses with an expected increase of four percent over the next 12 months.

Mornington's current median price is $300,000, according to APM, in their forecast developed by APM senior economist, Dr Andrew Wilson.

An example would be a four bedroom house at 31 Binalong Road (above) that is currently on sale for over $349,000, which is $49,000 above the median price.

Similarly a four bedroom house was recently sold at 496 Cambridge Road (above) for $380,000, which is $80,000 more than the median price.

The Smart Investor magazine, published by Fairfax Media, ranked Blackmans Bay and North Hobart as equal best hotspot.
