A 1930s era trophy home near Tamborine Mountain, northwest of the Gold Coast, has been sold by Tony and Christina Quinn, who bought Darrell Lea confectionary out of administration.

Their Tamborine Mountain Great Gatsby-style eight-bedroom house fetched around $5.5 million through Robert Graham and Michael Willems of Ray White Prestige Gold Coast

The mansion at 46-54 Curtis Road, Tamborine Mountain, was bought by a retired couple.

The Quinns, who started the VIP Petfood manufacturing chain, bought the partially completed property in 2011 from receivers for $1.25 million.

The median price for a home in Tamborine Mountain is $502,500, according to CoreLogic.
