A newly built Pakington Street, St Kilda residence fetched $1.678 million at its weekend auction.

A couple with a two-year-old outlasted four other bidders to buy the new three-bedroom home, according to The Herald Sun.

The contemporary three-storey house easily eclipsed its $1.4 million reserve.

The 35 Pakington Street offering came with double garaging with turntable.

St Kilda's median house price is $941,000, according to CoreLogic.
