The listing at 34 Ferrars Place, South Melbourne has sold for $5.3 million.
Oliver Bruce at Marshall White sold the property which is the second highest residential price recorded in South Melbourne.
Built in 1877 as a 15-room brick mansion for medical practitioner, Dr Charles Duret, the South Melbourne property had an original value of £150.
The property last traded for $4.71 million in 2009.
Some of the original features of 34 Ferrars Place, South Melbourne have been retained, such as the rendered facade, architrave mouldings, panelled door and arched reception hall.
However the former ballroom is now a home cinema and the six bedrooms and three bedrooms on the upper level have been remodelled to fulfil every present-day expectation.
It includes off street parking and a rooftop terrace with bay views.
