The Fairlight apartment of the late Sir Ian and Lady Turbott has been sold for $4.075 million after having a price guide of $4 million.

The five bedroom luxury apartment with huge verandahs was the perfect venue for the couple's lavish cocktail parties.

Large family gatherings would congregate for the start of the Sydney to Hobart every year to watch the spectactular yachts pass through the heads.

Ian was the Hon Consul for the Cook Islands and on several occasions invited the Cook Islands dancers and rummers to entertain their guest.

Ian was a successful sportsman, a decorated military Officer, a long-time serving colonial civil servant, a governor, successful businessman and Australian father of the year.

The two level apartment was sold by Belle Property agent Luke Burgess.

The Turbott's bought the home for $1,225,000 in 1995 having previously lived in Clontarf for 20 years.
