Geoff and Dalrae Shaw’s versatile Rockhampton district property Comanche has been sold $15.7 million.

It was bought by the Canberra-based, Rural Fund Management.

Comanche was marketed by Mark Simpson at Ray White Rural and Ray Taylor at Landmark Harcourts.

Bidding kicked off at $11 million from the eight registered bidders.

Located in the Glenroy district 86 kilometres west of Rockhampton, the 7599 hectare (18,778 acre) freehold property has a 9 kilometres frontage to the Fitzroy River, with a water allocation.

Comanche country is described as a mixture of frost free softwood, brigalow and belah scrub and alluvial river flats.

Rockhampton has been pinpointed as the FIFO hub for the proposed Adani Carmichael mine.

It is reported that approximately 1,100 FIFO workers are to be located in the Rockhampton region for the two year construction period.

Post construction, this workforce is expected to be reduced to approximately 625.
