R&W's $10 million plus Vaucluse harbourfront sale suggests a rising trophy home tide

A Vaucluse harbourfront residence, with direct access to Gibson’s Beach, has been sold apparently to an expatriate.

And Property Observer gleans the unconfirmed price was $10 million plus.

The listing was expected to sell for more than $10.5 million when the expressions of interest marketing campaign was conducted in March.

Negotiations have continued since with Michael Dunn of Richardson & Wrench Double Bay.

The sandstone Wharf Road cul de sac property (pictured below) was sold by film researcher Lois Childs who bought it for $5.9 million in 2002 with her late partner John Morrison, a hedge funds wizard and a former chief executive of Man Investments Australia.

There had been extensive renovations throughout the four-bedroom house.

It comes with a northerly aspect.

There's a boatshed at the water’s edge.

The adjacent Peter Tout-designed contemporary house of former Macquarie banker Kim Burke remains listed through Pauline Goodyer of Goodyer Donnelley Real Estate.

So too does the redundant Wharf Road abode of Brett Blundy for which he paid $7.95 million for a non-waterfront block on Wharf Road and the neighbouring beachfront on The Crescent, which cost $17.75 million.
