The median price of a house in Brisbane was $475,000 for the quarter to July, according to RP Data.

Brisbane house values were down 0.2% for the month, but increased 6.9% on a yearly basis. The Queensland capital had the third-strongest growth of any capital city in the country for the 12 months to July, behind Melbourne and Sydney.

Many people use median figures to set their price expectations for an area - but what does a $475,000 Brisbane house actually look like? Property Observer looks at the city's recent sales to see what the median price will get you.

  1. 84 Pareena Crescent, Mansfield



    This three bedroom, two bathroom brick home sold for $477,000 in July. The house sits on a 546 square metre plot in the Mansfield High School zone.

    Two of the three bedrooms have built in robes, and the open plan living spaces feature pine cathedral ceilings.

    It was purchased by the vendors for $400,000.

    Another three bedroom, one bathroom house sold around Brisbane's median price last month, with this Deagon home attracting $482,500.

    The home has open plan living and dining areas, with an open fireplace and 10 foot ceilings.

    The home sits on a 450 square metre parcel, with a utility room and workshop tucked in the downstairs area of the house.

    This low set brick home has four bedrooms and one bathroom, selling for $475,000.
