Talk show queen Oprah Winfrey has put a palatial three-bedroom, 428-square-metre Chicago apartment on the rental market for US$15,000 per month.

Winfrey bought the apartment in 2006 for US$5.6 million but never moved into it, according to The Chicago Tribune.

The Beaux Arts-style building was designed by Benjamin Marshall and built in 1913, and it comprises 13 apartments. Winfrey's rental apartment includes a wine room, library, formal dining room, high ceilings and solarium.

It is listed by Prudential Rubloff agent Brad Lippitz.
