Former Olympic rower James Stewart has bought back into Mosman, spending $2.35 million on a family home.

The Rangers Avenue home is set among 456 square metres of lush gardens and has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a private terrace.

O'Gorman & Partners Real Estate agent Anthony O'Gorman secured the pre-auction sale after having a price guide of $2.25 million.

Stewart sold his circa 1910 Federation home, Jasmine Cottage (pictured above), for $1,885,000 in August after just seven days on market.

James competed at the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Olympics with his twin brother Geoff.

They won a bronze medal in 2000 and again in 2004 when joined by younger brother Steve.
