As we look towards an ever-changing future of community development within Australia, VIP + Mirvac have created Woodlea – a landmark project which represents what modern community living could look like in years to come. With an anticipated 15-year masterplan, the team are already well on their way towards delivering a fully functioning, integrated community across 711-hectares of land within the Melton East corridor.

Since the development’s establishment four years ago, Woodlea has already welcomed 3,600 residents, with scope to double that number by 2020. The anticipated community population is estimated to reach over 20,000 upon completion. According to the 2019 HIA Population & Residential Building Hotspots Report, Rockbank’s population experienced a 59.4% growth in 2017/18 and over $224 million in building approvals – which goes to show the extent Woodlea’s exponential growth is having on the wider community.

“The vision for Woodlea is about creating and raising the bar for a new suburb for Melbourne’s West that gives families the opportunity to live a better life and this creates a flow-on effect for other suburbs and communities in the West.”

Lora Djurdjevic, Sales & Marketing Manager

What makes Woodlea so popular?

Through intuitive and thoughtful design, the team behind Woodlea have looked past the cookie cutter approach and instead placed focus on lifestyle. Each home has been constructed within 200 metres of a park, 30% of the entire development is dedicated to beautifully landscaped public open spaces and a noise attenuation wall will be implemented along the Western Freeway.

A retail outlet Woodlea Town Centre is slated to open next year and will include multiple retail offerings, dining options and a Coles supermarket. Earlier this year, Woodlea also welcomed a brand new high school, Bacchus Marsh Grammar, and announced the Woodlea Early Learning Centre; which will join the precinct’s three primary schools.

Upgrades in the area

To cater to the growing population, an emphasis has been placed on the revitalisation of pre-existing infrastructure. The Rockbank Station is currently undergoing renovation and is set to be complete late 2019.

The government will also be upgrading the Sunshine and Footscray Hospitals, as well as developing the new Westgate Tunnel to aid in easing traffic congestion.
