Sydney’s cheapest weekend auction sale was a $407,000 Punchbowl sale, when a two bedroom unit sold for above its $350,000 price guide.

Ray White’s John Yatman had advised a $380 a week rental was achievable for the recently repainted 1970s top floor apartment, but it sold to an owner occupier.

The owner occupier had been on the hunt for a place within close walking distance to the shopping centre and station.

"She mentioned about the metro 2024 upgrade happening to our station as a big reason why she chose this particular unit," Yatman said. "

And because it was a red full brick building with only six in the block," he added.

The 5/19 Dudley Street apartment had last sold at $126,000 in 1999.
