Harry Seidler-designed Balmain home listed with $6m price guide
A Harry Seidler-designed home in Sydney’s Balmain has been listed for auction with a price guide of $6 million.
Located on White Street, the three-bedroom, two-bathroom home was built in 1995.
Named the 'Sydney Seidler', it was one of the last residential properties Seidler created before his death in 2006.
The home boasts Seidler’s signature curved walls and roof and triple-height ceilings.
Located on a 798-square-metre waterfront block, the main living areas offer views over the Sydney harbour.
It also includes a pool – surrounded by manicured lawns – and a boatshed and slipway into the harbour is also included.
The property last sold in October 2001 for $3.41 million, which Danny Cobden, director of Cobden and Hayson says at the time, was a record auction price sale of a home in Balmain.
Seidler was an Austrian-born Australian architect and was the first architect to fully express the principal of the Bauhas in Australia.
He designed 180 buildings over his career, including The Australian Square Tower in George Street, the MLC Centre in Martin place and the Ian Thorpe Aquatic Centre in Ultimo.
Cobden says he expects plenty of interest in the house.
The property will go under the hammer on April 20.
