Champion surfer Tom Carroll has listed his hillside Newport property on Sydney's northern beaches.

With sweeping beach views, the contemporary house has three-levels.

It's expected to fetch about $2 million at its May 2 auction through Lachlan Elder of LJ Hooker Mona Vale.

"If a home could be referred to as "sexy" this would be the one," his marketing says.

Carroll bought the Hillside Road property for $350,000 in 1988 when he was competing on the world professional surfing circuit where he won two world surfing titles (1983 and 1984) and three Pipe Masters (1987, 1990 and 1991) in Hawaii.

In 1999 Carroll and his wife Lisa rebuilt the five bedroom house with sheets of glass, curved walls, high ceilings and polished timber on its 920-square-metre block.
