Addenbrooke, the stately Bellevue Hill trophy home, hasn't hung around for its formal spring trophy home marketing campaign.

It's attracted the attention of competitive interest.

Overnight print speculation has it that the property developer Bob Ell may have secured the offering which was listed through Sydney Sotheby's International Realty agent Michael Pallier.

Property Observer previously suggested it came with $33 million hopes by the downsizing vendors, Denis and Charlotte O'Neil.

And the eastern suburbs whisper - repeated in the Australian  newspaper - is that its sold at about $27 million, and then possibly a little more for a vacant adjacent grassed block of land.

It last traded in 1988.
