Dr Phil Stricker's Darling Point property always had cautious auction expectations.

The three-bedroom penthouse last sold off the plan in the mini-boom of 2010 for a bullish $7.4 million, settling in mid-2011.

Its then purchase coincided with the sale of their Rose Bay home for $13 million.

The U-shaped apartment (above) with Harbour bridge views was listed through Ray White Double Bay agents Michael Finger and Diane Wilson.

They had an early campaign guide of between $6 million and $7 million ahead of its June 11 auction.

Title Tattle gleans they secured $6.5 million plus pre-auction, though there's been no price notification on websites.
